Plush Toys started with one simple frustration: giant teddy bears that arrived half-stuffed, lopsided, and smelling like a chemistry lab. The photos online showed majestic five-foot bears; the boxes delivered sad, slumping ones. We decided the gap between the picture and the package was a solvable problem.
What we do differently
We stuff to spec, by hand. Every bear has a target fill weight — from 5 lbs in our 3-footers to 45 lbs in the Behemoth — packed in stages so the bear sits upright with open arms instead of folding at the waist.
We over-engineer the seams. The first thing to fail on a cheap giant bear is the neck. Ours are double-stitched and bar-tacked at every stress point, because we know these bears get climbed, dragged, and slept on.
We test like it’s a crib, not a carnival prize. All materials meet ASTM F963 and CPSIA — the US federal toy-safety standards — verified by independent labs. Hypoallergenic fill, azo-free dyes, no chemical smell out of the box.
